The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University seeks a part-time instructor to teach GEO 361, Global Economic Geography, during the Spring 2019 semester, January 14-May 8, 2019, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30-1:50 PM (3 credits).

Course Description: This course explores, from the perspective of economic geography, the economic, social and political parameters of the phenomenon of globalization. It critically assesses globalization both conceptually and empirically, by placing it within its political, economic and historical context. It will be argued that rather than representing the end of geography, globalization must be seen as both an outcome and a process reinforcing uneven development. Moreover, globalization is not an omnipotent or homogenous force, but is contradictory. Thus, globalization is part of a process in which the role of national and regional scales has been redefined, not eroded.
