Job description Job summary
Applicants are invited to apply for a Research Associate (RA) position funded by the EU Commission (Horizon 2020) to develop the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence (KIOS CoE). The project is a team effort between the University of Cyprus and Imperial College London which will carry out multidisciplinary research in the areas of intelligent large-scale dynamic systems and networks with emphasis on monitoring, control, and cyber-security of critical infrastructures. The position is open to British, EU and overseas candidates.

Duties and responsibilities
The RA will carry out research programmes in the area of intelligent large-scale dynamic systems and networks with emphasis on monitoring, control, and cyber-security within the application context of industrial large-scale processes and critical infrastructures such as electrical power network and water distribution systems, undertake project management and/or supervise multi-disciplinary teams. In addition, the RA will be expected to participate in the general activities of the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence, attend the project meetings and events, collaborate in project report preparation, submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.
Essential requirements
The Successful candidate must have a good PhD in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering or Mathematics (or equivalent) for appointment at Research Associate level and have previous experience in control engineering, networks science, intelligent and networked systems with emphasis on monitoring, cyber-security and control of large-scale interconnected dynamic systems. *Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £34,397 - £37,486 per annum.

A part-time appointment up to a maximum of 24.5 hours per week can also be considered.
