Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Synthesis Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Oxford Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Michael Willis. This position will be funded by the EPSRC for a period of up to 3 years. The project involves the development of new methods for the synthesis of valuable sulfur-based functional groups.

You will have practical skills and experience of organic synthesis. You will have the ability to invent, analyse and optimise reaction processes, and the ability to select and execute appropriate purification techniques, particularly chromatographic methods for isolating analytically pure compounds on a range of reaction scales ( 5 mg to 50g). Main duties include manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Undertake comprehensive and systematic literature reviews and write up the results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters.

Applicants must hold a PhD in organic chemistry or a relevant subject area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires experience in synthetic organic chemistry.

The post will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and is available from 1 October 2019.
