Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Chemistry Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Oxford Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Chemistry to work under the supervision of Professor Stephen Fletcher on a research project funded by European Research Council (ERC). This is a fixed-term position to 30 April 2021.

The project involves organic chemistry and the work will require experience in chemical synthesis and characterisation techniques. You should be able to adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols. You should be able to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You should be able to represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone.

Main duties include manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Undertake comprehensive and systematic literature reviews and write up the results for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters.

You should have a PhD in chemistry or a related area (or be close to completion) and have expertise in organic chemistry.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
