Do you have a proven track record of business delivery in a technical /scientific environment?

The UK Atomic Energy Authority are seeking a H3AT (Tritium Advanced Technology) Business manager responsible for circa 100 staff. H3AT is an exciting new business delivering innovation in tritium and waste handling processes.

At the heart of H3AT is a brand new £40m world class tritium facility, and you will be responsible for providing commercial leadership and management to the department, ensuring that the department is able to deliver on commercial opportunities which support the advancement of UK industry`s ability to exploit the fusion fuel cycle business.

The primary purpose of this job is to:

-Work with Business Development and the H3AT team to seek out and deliver commercial contracts and grants (including EuroFusion and H2020) for the department that align with the H3AT business plan and the UKAEA`s corporate strategy.

-Provide technical support to our internal business units, including technical elements of the preparation of proposals, business plans, marketing materials and market intelligence data.

-Support the development of industrial and academic partnerships.

-Implement rigorous project management to ensure that contracts are delivered to time, budget and quality requirements.

-Provision of forward income projections.

-Provision of a forward work plan detailing required headcount and skill type

Knowledge skills and experience

Essential

-A proven track record of business delivery in a technical /scientific environment.

-Higher National / Degree qualified in a relevant science or engineering discipline.

-Commercial business delivery experience involving international collaborations

-Comfortable with ambiguity and risk.

-Delivery focussed coupled with experience of working to tight/fixed deadlines.

-Willingness to adopt organisational approaches to project management.

-An ability to work and communicate with a range of internal and external contacts, including engineers, technologists and physicists across a range of cultures.

-Good Technical proposal writing skills

-Good financial acumen.

Desirable

-An understanding of modern project management tools.

-Knowledge and experience of UK legal [contractual] framework is desirable.

-Knowledge and experience of EU [contractual] framework is desirable.

Special requirements:

-Some domestic and international travel may be required as part of this role
