The Business Development Specialist is responsible for the sale of the Company’s Chromatography products to the UK market (excluding Northern Ireland). The role involves the promotion, demonstration and sale of products, development of accounts and the management of consumable supply. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the UK Sales Manager: • Direct sales of products in the field and identify new business opportunities; • Day to day selling including demonstrations, visits and presentations as well as supporting communication (phone/email etc); • Provide product training and installation, and be the first line response to application and other issues (full product support is provided by an overseas application lab and a UK contracted service organisation); • Identify, plan and participate in key exhibitions and conferences; • Work with the global marketing department to keep the UK branch of the website up to date; • Investigate and identify other opportunities to promote the products in the UK market; • Update and maintain customer records in CRM; • Produce monthly reports on ongoing activities, and be involved in the longer-term development of strategy and sales plans; • Produce monthly sales opportunity (prospect) reports to forecast prospective UK business to the factory for the forthcoming period; • Submission of weekly expense reports; • Keeping track of demo and loan equipment and making sure it is fit for use. THE EMPLOYER The Company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Chromatography purification instruments and consumables. The primary markets for these products include chemical and pharmaceutical, discovery and development labs, as well as research groups working in other forms of purification including Bio-molecules and Natural Products. In addition to the purification products, the Company also manufactures and supplies high pressure precision fluid delivery systems, which are used in a number of niche areas including Oil exploration research (core flooding), high pressure chemistry and catalysis, and delivery of Supercritical fluids. THE CANDIDATE • A higher-education qualification in chemistry or a related scientific subject would be ideal; • Knowledge of Chromatography is essential; • Experience in scientific product sales would be highly beneficial; • A good understanding of the chemical/pharmaceutical market; • Self-motivated and passionate about driving the business forward; • Ability to build strong relationships with customers and suppliers; • Excellent communication skills (written and oral); • Full UK driving licence; • Work from home; • Ideal home location: in England south of the M62 and within easy access of main motorway network. PACKAGE • £30,000 to £40,000 salary (depending on experience); • £10k to £15k bonus OTC; • Car allowance scheme; • Attractive benefits scheme
