Business Analyst

Principal accountabilities
" Analysis and maintenance of both the Load, Non-Load and Connections related expenditure trackers, including the financial contributions of flexible contracts and innovative solutions to the load reopener mechanism, and development of new expenditure trackers to reflect updated mechanisms and budgets for RIIO-ED2.
" Compiling and reviewing regulatory reports in line with RIIO-ED1 specifically for innovative solutions and low carbon technologies, and ad-hoc data requests from third parties.
" Audit the DG database on a quarterly basis to ensure validity of data.
" Facilitate the ongoing refreshing of data for use by NMS and support the implementation of the ANM system through the provision and verification of data, processes and systems.
" Work closely with the DSO Data team to ensure records relating to distributed generation and flexible connections are stored and updated accordingly and support the development of a corporate database that will feed into the ANM and Merit Order Management systems.
" Support the development and create processes for the updating and maintenance of the MOM system, including the transfer of data from Generator Procedures.
" Monitor customer curtailment values and communicate these to the customer on an annual basis.
" Maintain and review the Embedded Capacity Register in collaboration with Data Management and Connections teams, responding to further data requirements as directed by the regulator.
" Support the ongoing development of our Flexible Connection offerings, including service definition, training, engagement and enduring commercial management of contracts such as curtailment calculations and communications.
" Support the processes for visibility/ signposting, procurement, dispatch and settlement of Flexible Services for the provision of capacity, in the short, medium and long terms. Follow and update our approach as required ensure it is consistent with the approach defined in the ENA Open Networks.
" Support the Reinforcement Planning Manager by providing analysis on investment programme performance identifying opportunities and risks, and in the production of the Long Term Development Statement.
" Work closely with the Forecasting and Strategic Planning teams to analyse trends in connections and monitoring data to inform future forecasts through the development of confidence factors, and potential opportunities for flexibility.
" Support the wider DSO team in the implementation and management of new processes and reporting requirements as specified in the DSO Annex of the RIIO-ED2 business plan.

" Responsible for the maintenance and reporting of distributed generation data in the forms of the DG database, Embedded Capacity Register, E7 Regulatory Reporting Pack and MOM system.
" Responsible for the maintenance and reporting of Load, Non-Load and Connections trackers to identify innovative solutions and report on efficiencies compared to traditional solutions and reporting of these through the E6 Regulatory Reporting Pack.

" Completion of regulatory reporting requirements in line with RIIO-ED1 and ED2 requirements and Open Networks commitments.
" Effective management of the Load, Non-Load and Connections trackers, providing monthly updates on costs and identification of risks and opportunities.

Knowledge and skills (e.g. Specific industry or technical / professional / educational qualifications, key competencies, skills, behaviours or experience needed to satisfy full requirements of the role)
Education
Qualifications: Degree level or higher, preferably in a numerate subject.
Experience
Minimum of three years' experience in any of the following areas: business analytics, engineering, customer engagement, procurement and regulatory or commercial environment, including code governance.
Knowledge
An appreciation of the components, equipment and systems of a distribution network and a detailed understanding of how innovative solutions such as flexible services can be used as part of operating the network to mitigate the need for network reinforcement.
An appreciation of the components of the RIIO-ED1 price control and the incentive regimes and how further engagement with stakeholders and innovative solutions can help Electricity North West outperform its regulatory contract.
Skills
" Good IT skills, specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and data analytic tools , ideally in Microsoft BI;
" Significant experience in a Business Analysis environment with expert knowledge of Business Analysis techniques and tools with a full appreciation of when and where to use them e.g. group facilitation, process mapping, task analysis;
" Strong presentational skills;
" Strong planning and organisational skills with a results focus;
" Excellent administration skills including data entry;
" Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately to maintain data integrity;
" Strong communication skills with the ability to deal professionally and effectively with customers, suppliers and internal departments across the organisation using well developed stakeholder management skills;

" Understanding of the content and nature of the data held in corporate databases and systems and have a good understanding of how it is interrelated and can be extracted and used to carry out analysis and evaluation activities.
You will also be expected to perform any such duty as deemed reasonable and within your capability to support the DSO team in meeting specific deadlines or targets.
