A 4-D Approach to Data Governance

Abstract

The article presents a four-dimensional (4D) approach in ensuring the success of data governance. It cites the importance of a data governance maturity model in the creation of a strategic roadmap. The first dimension concerns people who are political savvy and possess organizational design expertise. Under the second dimension involving process, people need to consider the purpose and function of data governance organization. The dimension concerning technology covers several aspects such as master data management, business process management and data policy management.
