Abstract

In the 1970s the Senezh laboratory dealing with wood preservation, in co-operation with Moscow University and other organizations, carried out a series of observations of biodeteriorated wood constructions located on Kizhi island. Based on theoretical and experimental data on wood impregnation and drying processes in different conditions a unique method of wood protection was elaborated. This chemical method does not require stationary impregnation machinery and makes it possible to impregnate wood with antiseptics. The method does not require disassembling the whole wood construction. The method and others are discussed in this chapter. Refs.
