Abstract

The last quarter of the 20th Century was marked by a crisis in the Taylor-Ford work organization model and by the emergence of a new standard of production and consumption, characterized by its fl exibility. Such changes extended over different dimensions of society and impacted signifi cantly career choices and career development. The objective of this essay was to discuss the idea of entrepreneurship in the context of the changes in the world of work and their importance in the area of career guidance. Above all, this study provides evidence of the need for professionals and researchers linked to that area to reexamine notions of autonomy and entrepreneurship associated with the workforce characteristics required in productive restructuring processes.
