Abstract

The purpose of this project was to write a grant to fund a teen dating violence prevention program. The literature review indicated the high and raising rates of dating aggression and the effects and risk factors of being victimized, and found the need to target this issue. Therefore, the community-based Peer Prevention Program was developed, to increase knowledge on teen dating violence, teach the participants how to assist peers in need, and reduce likelihood of participants to perpetrate or be victims of dating violence. The intended program was to be delivered to Latina/Hispanic adolescents between 13-15 years-old, and implemented in the cities of Pomona, Baldwin Park, and El Monte, California through The California Wellness Foundation grant. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
