Abstract

A expressive amount of accidents occur daily in businesses worldwide. It is estimated that 4% of all global gross domestic product is intended for issues of removals, production interruptions, medical expenses and workers' compensation. However, training in work safety currently used by companies worldwide, apparently have not been able to significantly reduce the rate of accidents, or increase the level of learning and assimilation of content related to the safety at work of their workers. The objective of this work is to present a proposal to develop an educational environment using serious games as a training tool in industrial environments and services with electricity, thereby increasing the assimilation of content and consequently reduce accidents in the workplace. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group, London, UK.
