Abstract

Annotated commentary: This article highlight the importnce of measuring charity impact and return on investment (RIO). Historically it is argued that the absences of compettitors and customers creat a kind of protected zone for philanthropy. In this article the writers look at the return on investmentfrom different perspetives (ig donor/funding) .First of all ,compared to -strategic nature-cororate donations rivate giving is more an emothional act .while corporate donations are normally considered as a "business investment". on the second hand Public sector funders measurment brings another aspect of importance; This article shows an important role for measurments from the NGO`s perspective as measurments help organizations to be accountable toword donors, and helps them to measure the accomblishment of the organization`s gools and missions. But for charities it is argued that measurment is mainly bout learning and accountablility . The authors argue that there is no one impac measurment model that is applicable to all nonprofit organizations , however SROI the most recongnized measurment method today is SROI .From this article we can see that a further developed collaboration from charity and NGO is so important! What is the central question/puzzle/problem identified in the article/book/blog post? this paper shows how charities are working with measurement today, who develops the measurement methodologies, how they are implemented and what is the difference between charities and NGO~s measurments? Continually updated and refined models of impact measurement is crucial for all types of charity and nonprofit organizations, in order to satisfy the growing interests of donors and funders. The SROI methodology was developed in order to help organizations to measure and quantify the benefits they are generating What empirical examples/cases/datasets/data are used? “The world giving index 2010” (p8) “Government Funding Act” which is declared as “An act to provide for the raising of funds by the Government of Malaysia in accordance with the Syariah principles and to provide for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith” *TRASI-database (Tools and Resources for Assessing Social Impact) How widely do the conclusions generalize, i.e. what might the limitations of the study? Scope conditions? Measuring (and reporting) social impact is complex. It is complex because no two organizations are alike . Also, it is difficult because most organizations (NGO’s) aren’t collecting the needed data in the first place. Other important or interesting details? This is a well organized paper that discuss the measurment importance from different prospectives .
