Abstract

Evolution of parameters in population growth models in seasonal (or periodic) environments is studied. An attempt is made to determine the appropriate measure of fitness in a periodic environment, leading to a contrast between environments with seasonally varying carrying capacity and those with seasonally varying density independent death superimposed. In the former case, no simple average of population size is maximized, but in the second case, average population size may be maximized.-from Author
