Abstract

The article describes how the concepts of nation, nationalism and Peruvian identity functioned in the 1920's after a 100 years of Peruvian independence. In this period newly emerged political groups and members of the intelligence started to discuss their varying concepts of national identity. Many intellectuals had conflicting ideas and engaged in a number of debates. However, it appears that the image of these ideas was not fully understood by the masses. An important factor was the fact that the majority of the population at the time did have its own indigenous culture and identity. English abstract/description written by Michał Gilewski
