Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the design process regarding how interaction designers in Taiwan deal with the OEM and ODM types of product and user interface design styles pertinent to mobile entertaining devices, such as MP3 players and portable media players (PMP). In addition to the discussion of what culture is and the way to design international user interfaces with cross-cultural considerations, detailed interaction design process with real world design examples is also introduced. It is hoped that the design process mentioned in this paper can be a good reference to interaction designers when they design product and user interface to satisfy users of various cultural backgrounds. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
