Abstract

The author of the paper deals with intercultural approach, i.e.understanding a culture in foreign language teaching. She defines theintercultural communicative competence and her presence incommunication, intercultural awareness and skills and attitudes. Therelationship between culture and language is undeniable. When teaching aforeign language, culture and cultural content have to be included intocurricula. The more difficult question for us, Slovak teachers, is notwhat to teach but how to teach it. In the paper the author discusses theessential issues for raising learner's intercultural competence.
