Abstract

The infra-red spectrum of a mixture of deuterated ethylenes has been obtained, and the non-planar fundamentals analyzed. The assignment establishes the twisting frequency as 1027 cm-1 (C2H2). This result leads to a new and more satisfactory assignment of the fundamental vibrational frequencies of ethylene.
