Abstract

An HPLC method with electrochemical detection is modified and used for the monitoring of furazolidone (FZ) and furaltadone hydrochloride (FT.HCl) in chicken tissues and eggs. Recoveries for both compounds were between 80.0 and 99.0%. The limit of detection was 1 ng/g for FZ and 2 ng/g for FT.HCl. All tissue samples were found to contain low concentrations but the egg albumen and egg yolk samples were found to contain relatively high concentrations of both compounds.
