Abstract

The growth of large-scale data processing in housing management has been necessary to cope with, and increase speed and efficiency of, everyday operations. Computer systems contribute to service management at 3 levels: strategic; operational; and personal. Also discusses government requirements for authorities to publish performance indicators to their tenants on a regular basis. The true beneficiaries of improved service provision are the tenants and applicants themselves. Whatever the policy of the authority the support of its tenants is vital. Their perception of the authority as a "good' landlord requires that good service management is not only done but seen to be done. The quality of the computing assistance in this task can often influence external perception of the service. The technology is now becoming available to the benefit of all concerned with the good management of social housing. -K.Ferenczy
