This article examines the role of information institutions in Indonesia in the management of Indonesia's popular music archives through a series of interviews and observations on previous research related to the institution. Music is an important cultural form for society. The music that developed in the community reflected the development of culture in a nation. The research was conducted on state-owned information institutions such as the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, Lokananta, and independent community institutions, namely Irama Nusantara. This study intends to explore how each of these information institutions obtains and manages archives related to Indonesian popular music. The way in which each information agency obtains, collects, and manages archives of Indonesian popular music will provide an overview of how these institutions understand or interpret Indonesian popular music archives and the challenges in managing them. It will also provide an overview of the importance of managing Indonesia's popular music archives as an ongoing work between state information agencies, popular music fan communities, and the music industries.
