This research explores the impact of the firm characteristics of size and age on organizational innovation (ORI). The study is based on data gathered from a sample of manufacturing companies from the central region of Russia. To make the research more specific, the ORI is broken down into three subtypes, namely, innovation in management practices, innovation in workplace organization, and innovation in external relations. The ORI subtypes demonstrate various levels of dependence on a firm’s size and age. The study did not find evidence that the size of a firm has any significant impact on the ORI, while the age impacts each of the ORI subtypes. The study contributes to the ORI literature by advancing the concept of the ORI investigating the impact of a firm’s characteristics on the ORI.
