The main objective of the paper is to measure the performance metrics such as throughput, packets drop, packet delivery ratio and average energy consumption. In the past these performance metrics arc measured when the nodes are in motion using lesser number of nodes. In this paper the above said metrics are measured with large number of nodes when they are in motion and in motionless state. Besides that the packets that arc transmitted arc encrypted using RSA Cryptosystem. From our results it is evident that DSR protocol yields better throughput, higher packet delivery ratio with less packets drop and less energy consumption thereby outperforming DSDV both in motion and motionless state. © 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
