Abstract

Road transport is by far the most convenient way of transportation thesedays, offering the highest mobility and flexibility. While roadtransport is gaining popularity, the increased amount of trafficrequires proper improvements and maintenance of the road network. Theincreasing usage of roads requires highest levels of maintenance of theroad network. To ensure that, new methods with the ability of rapid,non-destructive monitoring and testing of the construction propertiesare on demand. Review and analysis of flexible road pavement testingmeans and methods are presented in this paper to introduce the problemand current technology. Complexity of these methods is pointed out. Newapproach to pavement testing using vibro-excitation and logarithmicdecrement analysis of extinguishing free oscillations is proposed andits advantages are shown with application possibilities in a newadvanced non-destructive pavement structure research device.
