The aim of this paper is to present the design of a Holter recorder device, capable of acquiring and studying up to 72 hours of a patient's ECG signal. The device allows to detect possible eventual arrhythmias very difficult to perceive through a rest electrocardiogram. The recorder for ambulatory studies is able to store 2 or 3 ECG leads onto a Flash Card to be analyzed afterwards. This article also describes the criteria employed for the selection of the electronic components used and the interconnection between them within the device. Some characteristics related to this are mentioned and the performance obtained is discussed. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
