Abstract

Pure and rare earth element doped BiFeO3 (Bi0.95R0.05FeO3 with R = Y, Gd, Sm) nanoparticles were prepared by a modified sol-gel auto combustion method. The effect of doping of rare earth elements on structural, dielectric and magnetic properties of BiFeO3 has been investigated. X-ray diffraction confirms the formation of a pure phase rhombohedral structure of BiFeO3. The dielectric constant of Gd doped BiFeO3 was found to be higher than other samples. Y doped BiFeO3 shows higher magnetization compared to pure and other samples. All the samples show higher frequency dispersion at low frequency.
