Abstract

The application of classical strategies of behavior therapy may not be effective in the intervention with families, mainly in those with rigid and problematic patterns of verbal and regulation that act as psychological barriers to what they consider valuable. The combined application of basic strategies of behavior modification and current therapeutic tools of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are applied in families with problems of abuse and / or neglect. Under a single-case experimental design A-B with measures of multiple target behaviors, we analyze the improvement in 3 families in the types of family interaction, children's behavior and well-being or reduction of abuse. The results suggest the usefulness of ACT to promote change in this type of problems and indicate us also the possible conditions necessary for his application.
