Abstract

Public speaking is a generic competence highlighted at College, both teaching-learning process and their assessments have high complexity. This paper shows an instrument to assess in a practical and systematical way the nonverbal component of public discourse delivered by students. It is an observational scale made of 5 categories which internal consistency and reliability have been studied in a group of 60 subjects. Analyses reveal that this is a promising tool to evaluate nonverbal dimension of oral competence in the educational context.
