This study aims to describe: (1) the implementation of culture-based education in SMA Negeri 2 Wates; (2) Supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of culture-based education at SMA Negeri 2 Wates. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis of the interactive model data from Milles and Huberman. Test the validity of the data by triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the research are: (1) Implementation of culture-based education: a) application of the vision, mission and goals of the school; b) adjustments to the curriculum, lesson plans and syllabus of subjects; c) 5S cultural habituation and environmental insight; d) school activities: Kartini's day, school anniversary, ketoprak, work shows, Thursday pahing; procurement of books with cultural insight, and competition in the arts; e) conditioning of school infrastructure and environment; f) extracurricular activities; g) cooperate with the Kulon Progo Cultural Office. (2) Supporting factors: official support, enthusiasm and high commitment from school members, the existence of supporting programs, and the availability of adequate facilities. Inhibiting factors: student responses that show less enthusiasm, changing student interest and low level of understanding, as well as cultural-based educational activities that coincide with other activities.
