Abstract

A new species of isopod crustacean belonging to the genus Paraimene (Flabellifera, Sphaeromatidae) is described. The new species was collected from Cojimar Bay, La Habana Province, Cuba. Paraimene danieli new species differs from all other known species of the genus by the following characters: pereonites 2-3 smooth, pereonites 5-6 carĂ­nate, pereonite 7 and pleonite 1 raised at middle point, lacinia mobilis with 3 cusps. An identification key to species of Paraimene is provided.
