Abstract

The addition of positively charged colloidal materials to the growth medium markedly increased the concentration of cellulase enzymes produced by Trichoderma reesi Rut-C30. Filter paper activities of up to 4 and 13 IU/ml have been achieved by the addition of colloidal materials, using 3% lactose and 3% cellulose, respectively, as a substrate. The particles exert their effect by binding soluble sugars and slowing their uptake by the organism.
