Abstract

Some acylglykosides are known to have antimicrobial effects. Antifungal properties of 6-O-decanoylsucrose, 6-O-undecanoylsucrose, 6-O-dodecanoyl-sucrose and 6-O-tetradecanoylsucrose against Aspergillus sp. DMF 0501 were investigated. These acylsucroses inhibited the spore germination at concentrations in the range 0.5-1.0 mg.ml(-1). The colony growth rate decreased as the length of carbon chain of fatty acid increased. These results indicated a connection between antifungal effects of tested substances and their chemical structure, especially the length of acyl chain.
