In a mixture of two immiscible liquids, interfacial tension is responsible for the visco-elastic behaviour of the blend. To model such a peculiar behaviour, we formulate a fine-grained description of the interface motions and, after averaging, we obtain a coarse-grained description in the spirit of the Doi and Ohta model. While the Doi-Ohta model was restricted to immiscible liquids with equal viscosity and equal volume fractions, we here develop a model for arbitrary viscosities and concentrations. © 2003 Académie des sciences/Éditions scientifiques et médicales Elsevier SAS.
