The paper presents a scheme for automatic calibration of body worn acceleration sensors which does not require any user interaction and any knowledge about the position and orientation of the sensors on the body. We describe the theoretical principle behind the method, discuss the main practical implementation concerns, and present experimental validation results. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
