Abstract

Fifty seven species of the genus Plateros Bourgeois from México are revised, from which 45 are proposed new species, as well as the subgenus Paraplateros. The following species are registered for the first time for México: P. apicalis Gorham, P. aterrímus (Gorham), P. erebos Gorham, P. nicaragoensis Gorham P. ochraceos Gorham, y P. stramineos Gorham. A change in the statos for Calleros aterrimos Gorham) is proposed. The material examinad comes from 19 States. Veracruz (19), Chiapas (12),Oaxaca (10), Puebla (7), Jalisco (5), Morelos (4) y Sinaloa (4), are the best representad Mexican States. The position of the species is based in the external morphology of the male genitalia, along with its coloration, morphology and morphometry. 49 morphological characters were used for to construct an assay of a cladogram for the Mexican species.
