Abstract

Treatment of a range of benzylic, allylic, and secondary aliphatic alcohols with potassium iodides in the presence of H 4 SiW 12 O 40 affords the corresponding alkyl iodides in good to excellent yield with straightforward purification at room temperature in CH 3 CN.
