Abstract

This paper shows a cultural analysis of media discourses coming from self-help (Cosmopolitan) and tv fiction ("Las Aparicio"). We explore the ways they tackle some items of female sexuality and emphasize that they encourage a set of alternative significations and norms, but accompanied with paradoxical and contradictory messages that play down their liberator sense.
