Abstract

The article presents advice for library reference service professionals to serve student patrons with autism spectrum disorders. A brief overview of the features and characteristics of autism spectrum disorders is included. Additional topics addressed include promoting awareness of autistic student needs within the library staff, the implementation of the universal design of learning (UDL) system, and community outreach in connection to Autism Awareness Month in April.
