Abstract

Using the Sterile Insect Technique, Mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), was eradicated in December 1984 from Carnarvon in Western Australia. Eradication is based on finding no infestation of adults or larvae for a period equivalent to 3 fly generations according to a standard set by Hendrichs et al. (1982).
