Abstract

The presence of azo dyes in wastewater from textile industries represents one of the main sources of pollution in the environment. Physicochemical methods for the elimination of these compounds have been used, however, there is no method that guarantees the total elimination of the dyes and the pollution problem continues. It has been propose the use of Pleurotus ostreatus as a biological alternative for the degradation of azo dyes.
