Abstract

Invariant imbedding equations are important for analysis, computation, and solving inverse problems. Here, we extend the study to the determination of internal intensity functions in slabs of arbitrary vertical functional inhomogeneity. We discuss the invariance of the imbedding and comment on the polarity issue. The initial value problem of invariant imbedding is derived and then validated. © 2000 Elsevier Science Inc.
