Abstract
This article focuses on the analysis of the Provisory Measure n. 746/2016 and the proposals related to the Middle School curriculum reform. The curriculum is understood in its narrow and broad dimensions, that is, as a social technology employed in favor of and/or against hegemonic actions. In the light of Gramsci’s concept of enlarged state, within which the tension between political society and civil society results in disputes for hegemony, the analysis is developed based on two sources: the arguments provided in public sessions in which the Provisory Measure was debated up to it being converted into a Bill and ultimately into a Law; and the proposals related to the Common Core National Curriculum, which is considered central for the implementation of the reform.
