Suplementação energética de bovinos em pastagem de Coastcross ( Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers) no período das águas

Abstract

Energy supplementation for beef cattle grazing coastcross (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers) pasture in wet season. Thirty-two steers, fourteen months old and average initial weigh 345 kg were used. Forage production, quality and animal performance were evaluated in a four hectare area of coastcross pasture during wet season. Steers were supplemented with two energy sources: soybean hulls (SH) and oat grains (OG). Animals were allotted in four treatments: without supplement (WS), 0.6% of body weight (BW) with OG, 0.6% of BW with SH; and 0.3% of BW with soybean hulls + 0.3% of BW with oat grain (OGSH) on dry matter basis. There was (p.05) on average daily gain (ADG) that ranged from 0.667 (WS) and 0.840 kg/day (SH).
