The issues of adolescent problem on behavioral and social aspects was happened and tend to increase. The problem is also inseparable from academic problems. Academic problem needs to be treated because it’s have negative impact on student’s future. One of the activities that can solve the academic problems of junior high school students is by increasing the students' commitment in doing the task through goal setting. This research is a quasi experiment research with one group pretest - post test design. The subject of this research is the students of SMPN 1 Martapura Timur. The data was collected by Task Commitment Scale. Based on analysis data with paired sample test known that there is no different between pretest score and post test score. Its mean that the Goal setting training can’t increase student’s task commitment because there is another factor such as social and environmental factor
