The analysis of air temperature data for a period of 22 years in the meteorological network stations in the greater Athens area shows clearly the effect of the urban heat island due to the city. This effect appears with different intensity according to the season and to minimum and maximum temperatures. In particular, the analysis of the data pointed out the variations caused by natural processes and anthropogenic activities. The influence of the growth of the city on the mean minimum temperature is evident.-Authors
