La precipitación en el pirineo Español: Diversidad espacial en las tendencias y escenarios futuros

Abstract

This paper analyses the spatial and temporal precipitation patterns in the Spanish Pyrenees since 1950. A multi-parametric approach is used by means of the analysis of total precipitation amount but also considering other important parameters such as the number of rainy days, the duration of the dry spells and the extreme precipitation events. Results show a general decrease of precipitation in second half of the twentieth century mainly in spring and summer. The precipitation decrease is mainly explained by the reduction in the frequency of the most intense precipitation events. Trend in rainy days has a great spatial and seasonal variability. The climate change models show in the Spanish Pyrenees a general decrease of precipitation amounts throughout the twentieth-one century, also showing a decrease in the frequency of days rainy, an increase of the intensity of the most extreme events and a noticeable increase in the duration of the dry spells.
