Abstract

We have synthesized pentaaminofullerene 4 by the introduction of dimethylamino groups using a click reaction. The dendritic fullerene amphiphile showed a low critical micelle concentration of 3.6 ± 0.5μM. 4 is shown to be an efficient DNA binder that compacts DNA into nanoparticles at low nitrogen/phosphorus ratios.
