Although cell encapsulation technologies were originally developed for the treatment of acquired and genetic diseases such as diabetes, they can also be applied to the treatment of a variety of solid tumours. There are a number of strategies aimed at treating tumours with encapsulated cells and most of these are reviewed in this chapter.
