Abstract
The existing legal arrangements in Germany for the archiving of print material are described. The technical, legal and practical difficulties in extending such arrangements to digital material are discussed together with current initiatives to overcome those difficulties. The specific experience of the Thieme Publishing Group in these matters is also given.
