Abstract
Malignant gastrointestinal tumors such as esophageal, gastric, liver, colorectal, and pancreatic carcinomas are a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The dysregulation of transforming growth factor-â3 (TGF-â3) signaling was reported associated with the occurrence and development of gastrointestinal cancers. This study was aimed to investicate the TGF- â3 gene expression in Iraqi patients with GC and CRC. Peripheral Blood samples were collected from 30 Iraqi patients divided in to two groups 14 women and 16 men with age rang 37-57 years, thay attended Gastroenterology and liver teaching hospital in Baghdad city and diagnosed with early detected (early onest) GC, CRC and 30 healthy women and men were matched with patients as a control. Real time PCR was used to determine quantity of gene expression. The TGF-â3 gene expression was increase in the GC and CRC patients compared with control group. This study demonstrated that TGF-â3 and TEGT(HK) gene expression was increase in the GC and CRC patients, more especially in patients with early detected (early onest)disease. TGF-â3 and TEGT (HK) gene expression were for the patients groups (29.74 ±0.70 pg/ml) and (30.63 ±1.66 pg/ ml) respectivly, as compared to control (27.63 ± 0.46 pg/ml) and (28.02 ± 0.42 pg/ml), respectively. In conclusion, since TGFâ3 gene expression levels were significantly higher in patients with GC and CRC compared to health subjects. gene expression levels may be a new candidate marker in the diagnosis GC and CRC at early detected (early onest).
